About Cindy Kelly Conlon
I believe that my path to yoga is quite typical. I was a dancer and
athlete, and felt that yoga might be a good addition to my fitness
program. I knew nothing about yoga, but was encouraged by a friend to give it a try.

I can still remember walking into my first yoga class: the room was decorated with pictures that had no meaning and the teacher began by chanting words that I did not understand. I spent most of the time watching the clock and making my grocery list. I did not experience any great benefits and my wrists were actually sore after the class. I did not come back to yoga for twenty years.

That second class was quite different, however: the teacher was warm and welcoming, and taught me how to use my breath to relax into the poses. I was not even aware of time passing, and, after class, felt a general sense of well-being and joy. As the Zen saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Now, after completing my education as a lawyer, earning a Ph.D. in education, teaching college students, and raising three children, I found myself with the time and interest to explore yoga.

It has been an amazing journey, and one that I hope to share with others. My deepest wish is that no one has to wait as long as I did to gain all that yoga has to offer. I invite you to start wherever you are, and to step onto the path that can enhance your life in many ways, the path of yoga.
